SC Association of Taxpayers Names Katon Dawson as Chairman
Columbia, S.C. — The South Carolina Association of Taxpayers today announced that Katon Dawson has been named Chairman of the organization, bringing decades of policy and grassroots leadership experience to the state’s leading taxpayer advocacy group.
Dawson previously served as Chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party, where he led the party through multiple election cycles and strengthened statewide grassroots engagement. A longtime advocate for fiscal responsibility and limited government, Dawson has worked closely with elected officials and citizen leaders to advance policies that protect taxpayers and promote accountable governance.
“I am honored to serve as Chairman of the SC Association of Taxpayers,” said Dawson. “South Carolina taxpayers deserve transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of their hard-earned dollars. I look forward to building on the strong foundation this group already has in place and continuing the fight for sound fiscal policy.”
Dawson succeeds Don Weaver, who led the organization with distinction and greatly expanded its influence in key policy debates across the state while strengthening its Taxpayer Hero program.
“It has been a tremendous honor to serve as President,” said Weaver. “I’m proud of the work we’ve done to stand up for taxpayers in this state, and I have confidence that Katon’s leadership and experience will continue our organization’s mission.”
The SC Association of Taxpayers remains committed to advancing fiscal discipline, government transparency, and accountability for South Carolina families and businesses.
